Teater Refleksion’s puppet maker offers a focused course on puppet construction

In our intensive course, the participants get a chance to try their strength against puppet construction. Although we start with Teater Refleksion’s classical hand-controlled puppets, participants get the freedom to create their own, personal characters.

Puppet construction connects us with something fundamental. Life and death aren’t far apart when you try to breathe life into wood and foam. Through different expressions and mobility work, the puppets are given their vital potential. It is, however, the collaboration between puppet and puppeteer that provides the puppets with their true vitaly and personality. That’s why everything should be adapted to the participants’fingers, body height, wishes, and ways of moving.

No specific skills are required to join the course – everybody can take part!

About Amanda

Amanda Axelsen Sigaard graduated as a designer from Design School Kolding in 2016. Both during and after her education she gained good experiences as an educator. Each year, Amanda is responsible for several of Teater Refleksion’s workshops for children and adults alike. She used to work as a teacher at Kolding Art School.

Amanda has a lot of experience with theatre and theatre installations, having taken part in collaborations with ARoS, Moesgaard and several other theatres and artists in the Aarhus area. Additionally, Amanda has been attached to all Teater Refleksion’s productions since 2017 and has her daily routine here as our in-house puppet maker, scenographer and costume manager.
