See the Dark

A sensory journey into the world of darkness
Co-production with DraumVærk

Darkness lives in my house, would you believe.
It lives in a cupboard with my mother’s brown shoes.
It lives under the stairs that creak and groan.
It lives in the garage among scraps and things.

Step inside the tent! The light fades slowly: it darkens.
Come, take a seat and join us on a moving journey into the sensuous realm of darkness.
Sealed in jars and boxes, darkness from all over the world lies waiting.
Here are traces of darkness from the backyard, the cellar, and beneath the duvet.
Here is the night-dark from a Siberian plain, the twilight of a Nordic forest, and the deep dark of old chalk mines.
Drawn from drawers, tins, and chests, the darkness unfolds in sounds, tones, songs, scents, and shadow pictures.

Darkness can be vast and strange.
But it can also be a friend.
Welcome to an intimate and sensory encounter with darkness – a collage of small and large, everyday and magical, raw and wondrous tales of the dark.

“See the Dark” invites the audience on a journey into the dark (…) an intimate and attentive experience that leaves room to linger on every impression.”

“It is quite an achievement to create such a connection to darkness (…) and just as impressive to shape a deliberately slow-paced performance for an audience so often surrounded by speed and action.”
