A sensuous expedition through the world of darkness
Step inside the tent! The light is slowly fading away, our senses are sharpened, and you are about to embark on a moving journey into the sensuosness of the dark. Sealed up in small and big containers, different kinds of darkness lie hidden: the nocturnal darkness of a Siberian tundra, or a Nordic forest, or the darkness of an old limestone pit. Or the darkness that’s hiding below the staircase, in the basement, and under the duvet. When we open the container, you can hear the sounds, tones, or words of darkness. You can smell its scents and see it unfold and change in mirror images.
Darkness is calm, rest, and recovery, but it’s also wild nature, nocturnal sounds, and starry skies. The stars used to be the compass of the night, but due to light pollution it’s hard for us to see the stars. In many places of the world, the Milky Way is no longer visible. Paradoxically, the artificial lights are blocking our view and leading animals and insects astray.
While some senses are weakened, others are sharpened. This performance invites you to become familiar with darkness, sharpen your senses and experience everything anew. Sounds, music, songs, and storytelling unfold a collage of small, big, marvellous, ordinary, raw, and moving stories from the dark.
